The Globes were held last night, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, in Beverly Hills and New York respectively.
As it's the era of Covid, the awards social distancing had memorable technical difficulties, including moments when celebrities did not know the camera was on them. Ultimately, the Globes were not able to incorporate Zoom's essence as seamlessly as did the Emmy's, but it was worth the watch to see what they would do.
As for winners, NOMADLAND won best Drama, and BORAT won for best Musical/Comedy. The full list can be found here.
Tracy Morgan was Tracy Morgan and mispronounced SOUL, giving birth, I'm sure to many memes. Jason Sudeikis's acceptance speech for TED LASSO was casually endearing and Aaron Sorkin was a class act in his.
Over at The Ankler, Richard Rushfield writes, the following:
"I'll repeat one more time, if Oscar took a year off from self-congratulation for entertainment that entertained no one, and used the time to raise money and awareness for the many, many people suffering around the world, think how much bigger, more noble, more glamorous Hollywood would seem. Compare that to how much smaller and prettier it looked last night. Last exit to self-respect, Oscar. There's still a chance."
Oscar has his big night for the 93rd Academy Awards, Sunday, April 25th.
It will be interesting to see who hosts, and how they adapt the show to the times.
