JOHN FUNK - Director, Writer, Producer.

John Funk is an independent feature film and television content director, writer, and producer operating through his production company, John Funk Productions, based in Hollywood, California. His development slate includes feature film and television projects of all sizes, based on original material, books, novels, and other branded IP.

Mr. Funk is the protege of the late Chuck Fries, "Godfather of the Television Movie," who was the first to adapt a movie for television, earning him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was also a PA for Tom Cruise's United Artists. 

​

Mr. Funk is currently in post on an independent feature film, ROSES ON THE VINE. 

​

He found the script for PATIENT ZERO and made it with Oscar winning director Stefan Ruzowitzky (THE COUNTERFEITERS). It was shot at Shepperton Studios, in London England with Natalie Dormer, Stanley Tucci, and Matt Smith.

 

Other notable credits include his work on WE’RE THE MILLERS, with producer Vincent Newman, Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis, which on a $30M budget, grossed over $300M worldwide.

Mr. Funk has over a decade of film and television production credits with a box office of over one billion dollars.

​

He’s a member of the Visual Effects Society, Script Collective, Film Independent, and Sundance Institute.

 

John Funk was an Administrator in the Film Education Department at

The Los Angeles Film School, and has a B.A. in Film and Media Arts from

Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
