I've had UPGRADE on my list of films to watch for awhile now, and got to it this weekend.
This $5M masterpiece by the writer of SAW, Leigh Whannel, starring Logan Marshall-Green is a masterpiece of filmmaking.
The story of a technology phobic, crippled man who receives a "trans-human" upgrade. He now can now walk, perform all kinds of impossible tasks, and has an AI in his head.
It's a prophetic work, has strong visuals, organic cinematography, and incredible set design.
It's JOHN WICK meets VENOM, with an almost Shakespearean plot and twists, dripping in symbolism. Films like this are blessed with a "Cassandra complex," which predict the future, but are cursed to not have anyone really understand.
It gets ten stars from me, and I cannot stress how important this film is, in terms of art, the craft, action scenes, and politics, not to mention entertainment.
