BLOOD OF ZEUS - one of the best adaptations of the Greek mythological world.

Originally titled, GODS AND HEROES, the same team behind CASTLEVANIA has created an original story, based on classic tropes.

Zeus, the king of the Greek gods, has an affair with a mortal woman who gives birth to twins. His vengeful wife Hera plots against his bastard children, so Zeus hides his son Heron in a village, disguising him and his mother as peasants, and blanketing the city in perpetual storm clouds.

The other son Seraphim has an even worse childhood, and turns into a killer. He stumbles upon a fallen giant, and after eating its flesh, he turns into a "daemon."

This four hour first season follows the character arcs of Heron and Seraphim, as they choose sides. Heron with Zeus and the gods of Olympus, and Seraphim, siding with Hera, the gods who ally with her, and the whole resurrected army of giants.

Other than the conspicuous absence of "ichor," (divine golden blood, only seen in GODS OF EGYPT) it is one of the closest and most faithful adaptations of Greek mythology.

While I question some of the design choices behind Zeus, I appreciate his brother Poseidon appearing older, as it is faithful to the original stories.

Hera is fabulous, and this is perhaps her best and most faithful adaptation in Hollywood. She wears a couture looking golden fleece, and is shown to plot, scheme, control monsters, and be one of the most powerful beings of all time.

Apollo is briefly shown having relationships with men and women.

Hephaestus is shown as creator of the "Automatons," giant golden robots, and in a homage to CLASH OF THE TITANS, he has a robotic owl.

Monster, daemon, and titan designs are fabulous, and their larger than life battles at the end of the season are a joy to watch.

I read a script floating around Hollywood called MEDUSA, like MALEFICENT, or WICKED, in that it's the story of Perseus and Medusa, but from the Gorgon's point of view.

I've read the script for ICARUS, about the titular hero from mythology.

And there is a MEDEA project in development about Jason and Medea.

There are many stories in this world yet to be told. Greek myths are some of the most classic and best stories of all time, and BLOOD OF ZEUS is a worthy addition to Hollywoods adaptations.

I'm ready for Season 2.
